Steve Guggenheimer is corporate vice president of Microsoft's Developer & Platform Evangelism (DPE) group. Under Steve’s leadership, DPE is responsible for helping the software and services eco-system optimize their business opportunities on the full range of Microsoft product and solution offerings including; Windows devices, the Microsoft cloud, Office and Interactive Entertainment. This strategy clearly reflects the company’s priority to grow our application and services ecosystem by way of broad platform adoption across our technical communities (Developers, IT Professionals, Students, and Startups) and business partnerships. Guggenheimer was previously the corporate vice president of the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Division at Microsoft. In this role, he oversaw management of Microsoft’s relationships with the makers of personal computers and other devices, multinational and regional OEMs, and embedded systems manufacturers. Prior to that role, Guggenheimer was the General Manager of Microsoft’s Application Platform & Development marketing division which focused on Microsoft’s cross-company Application Platform strategy and its sales and marketing initiatives, in conjunction with the worldwide development, sales and evangelism organizations. Since joining Microsoft in 1993 as a product manager in the Windows for Workgroups organization, Guggenheimer has worked on and managed a variety of Microsoft product initiatives, including Windows 95 and Windows 98; Microsoft Internet Explorer 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0; WebTV; MSN; Microsoft SQL Server; Visual Studio; and BizTalk Server. In addition, Mr. Guggenheimer has extensive experience working in the consumer, small-business and enterprise customer segments at Microsoft. Before coming to Microsoft, Guggenheimer was at Spectra-Physics Inc., where he helped develop and market new products for the research and original equipment manufacturer laser divisions. Steve Guggenheimer received a bachelor’s degree in applied physics from the University of California, Davis, and a master’s degree in engineering management from Stanford University.
